TO BLOW SOME REALLY BIG. BIG MONEY ON DESIGNER FASHION CLOTHING
This is the age of commercialization and advertising. We are
inundated with images on television, print- and social media and Internet that
exhort/ demands us to buy the branded products. Brands like Hermes, Chanel,
Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Fendi and others spend hundreds of thousands in
making sure that their brand recall stays high in the minds of the consumers.
These highend brands also take the help of celebrities to create
exclusivity around them. There is a natural tendency in us to believe that if a
product is endorsed by a celebrity, then that brand can be trusted and it is of
high quality. No wonder actors, sports stars and supermodels earn millions in
endorsement of these products. So you have Rihanna endorsing Gucci handbags, Beyonce
endorsing Dolce & Gabanna.
The High end Fashion market with sky-high prices is extremely
small. But there is a small number of exceptionally well-heeled customers out
there--Arab princes (ses) Russian oligarchs, rock stars and corporate
tycoons--who will pay a price, sometimes fantastic prices, to get the look they
want.
High-end goods are often available only with certain selected
distributors and even these are available only for a limited time period and in
a very small number. This creates certain hype around the product being sold.
Distributors dealing in high-end couture selling to big name department stores operate
in this way.
High-end retailers deal in a limited number of garments from a
selected group of designers charging exorbitant rates for these designer
''creations''.
No doubt that the quality of these collections is top notch and
the designers spend hours and hours in coming up with the final designs that
have all the ingredients including latest trends, comfort and convenience.
Though depending upon the name on the label starting prices can
range much higher then rocket sky high.
The name which sell almost by itself and is solemnly trusted is Tom
Ford, He and Domenico de Sole, his colleague who left Gucci with him, set up a
new company called just "Tom Ford". His womens collection range
prices on the obscene. You can choose between a newcar or a Tom Ford handmade
beaded dress and still there is a market. How small this market will and shall
be… Or you can dream your own fairytale dream….
What makes fashion collections cost upwards of 30,000 and
sometimes considerably more? It's a combination of material, labor, skill and
not a little egotism. You have to think you're worth it, after all.
For the first time since his return to womenswear, Mr. Ford
decided to shift his focus from the individual woman to a cohesive collection.
When I first started this womenswear label, we wanted to
emphasize the point that we make clothes for different women, different
characters, different ages and we really followed that through with each
individual look, each of the hair and make-up – but what that didn’t give me
was a distinct look – so this season we have that: much more graphic than
before, this is The Look – all the way through from the clothes to
the shoes to the bags to the accessories.”

TRENDS RACE THROUGH THE MEDIUM
In the world of color, in the world of beauty, you often see
trends, and if you’re not up to the minute you can absolutely miss the entire
trend.”
Cultural identification becomes a methodology to identify the
seeds of emerging trends. Remakes the advertising industry as the relationship
between consumers and marketers evolves from a monologue to a conversation.
Digital and social media like Facebook,Twitter
and YouTube are making it easier to monitor what consumers like and dislike as
well as to spot actors, songs, fashions, movies, TV shows and cultural ideas has
become a tremendous breakout popularity. Online display, banner and search ads;
video clips; and material for the Web sites and Facebook fan pages of brands.
L'Odyssée de Cartier Discover the new Cartier film, a journey
between dream and ...
Luxury jewellery brand Cartier has launched a film called
L'Odyssee de Cartier, depicting the brands history featuring the panther, an
iconic animal for the brand.
The film shows the brands ‘history, its values and inspiration,
and its artistic scope’, featuring the panther walking through countries that
relate to Cartier’s heritage, such as France, China, Russia and India, where it
encounters vintage pieces from Cartier’s previous collections.
The film directed by Bruno Aveillan, also includes people who are
relevant to the brand’s story, such as Alberto Santos-Dumont, who Cartier
created the first modern wristwatch, and supermodel Shalom Harlow features, in
the film’s final scene to represent the spirit of the Cartier woman.
The three and a half minute film follows the iconic symbol of the
brand, the panther, around the world where he brushes with key moments and
locations from Cartier’s history. The campaign includes a microsite, odyssee.cartier.com, where visitors can
view the film in full, explore the jewelry associated with each setting, and
see behind-the-scenes film on film production and music.
The Cartier panther (three were used in filming) travels to St
Petersburg in the snow, to China where he comes face-to-face with a golden
dragon, to an Indian palace built upon an elephant’s back and filled with
glittering animal jewellery (many pieces of which reside in the Cartier
archive), before leaping aboard the wings of and identical replica of the
airplane built by Alberto Santos-Dumont, to showcase the classic Cartier Santos
watch (first commissioned by the Brazilian aviation legend in 1904). The
panther finally lands in Paris, the birthplace of Cartier, on Place Vendôme where
he meets supermodel Shalom Harlow at the Grand Palais.
The L’Odyssée de Cartier campaign was developed at Marcel Worldwide
(Publicis),
Paris. Filming was shot by director Bruno Aveillan
via Quad Productions, Paris, with director of photography Patrick Duroux and
producer Martin Coulais, production manager Claudia Traeger, dragon designer
Stephane Levallois. Graphic sequences featuring Russia and China were by
François Peyranne. Post Production was done at Digital District,
Paris, by producers Mathieu Lauxerois, Nataly Aveillan, colorist Jean-Clement
Soret, editors Coralie Rubio, Fred Olszak, Anthony Ornecq and Rémi Nonne.
Music by Pierre Adenot was recorded at Abbey Road.

ANOTHER
THING I LOVE IS.....
I
loooooooove Ebay. In my peruse on ebay, I can surf for hours, completely
forgetting what time it is, just to find that specific item I have in mind.So
actually Im an official virtual auction bidder, seller and buyer. I have this ‘budget’
when I’m on ebay as a buyer. It started for me when I didn’t have a lot of
money anymore and still would like to purchase some designerclothing. It feels
so much better, when you have hardly paid for it. So I set my budget on
75,- U.S dollars. Which meant absolutely nothing, (felt like $ 0,-) at that
time. It's never a problem to spend your money, if you have lots to spend. More
creative and more nerve-wrecking it will be when you have a super low budget.
I still have a discerning eye to add more clothes to my impeccable
wardrobe, reflected in my personal style and creative intuition. All revealed in
off season, vintage or new collection clothing, shoes and accessories.
When I'm
in my hunting for vintage designer clothing-, shoes, accessories etc. There are
always some images running in the back of my head, a specific item I still like
to gain, any item of a specific runway collection/fashion designer. For example
Dries van Noten S/S09 Martin Margiela collections F/W05 and S/S06. It is
subjective, I add my own personal value to a specific runway show collection.
Those are for me MUST haves pieces. Positive element to restrict
yourself to this rule, you won't get lost in this big jungle of online clothing
offers. Provides you to eliminate all the extra choices, decisions, which has
been distracting you from the beginning More then once, I have set the alarm so I could bid on an auction. Still half sleeping but in
ready for the online auction. You really have to be alert at 3.15hrs A.M to hit
the button just in time.....
I have scored soooo many good items, new items for 90% sale, sort of saying. New Balenciaga fluorescent heel-pump with the right heel height. I was hunting for it for more then 2 years. Finally got it for less then 35 dollars including shipping costs. My truly best bargain when it comes to retail price / auction price is this exquisite handbeaded silver sequins and beads runway gown of Carmen Marc Valvo. I can hardly move in this dress, and had to hold something steady not to loose balance, it weighs more then myself. It’s so heavy but you can deal with it because of it's stunningly beautiful trail....(right) Original retailprice 5.820 US dollars……
It all started with my first silk scarf by Elsa Schiaparelli. My first won item on an auction of Ebay. Then a slipdress and later some nylon stockings.
And still some jewellery of Elsa Schiaparelli is on my wishlist.....
Elsa Schiaparelli, the renowned fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli (creator of the shocking pink color). Was one of the most important fashion designers of the 20s and `30s after Coco Chanel. A surrealist artist in the world of Haute Couture. she once had a partnership with the artist Salvador DalÃ. She opened her first store, "Stupidir le Sport", in 1927, and as the name says, specializes in sporting goods. In 1931 she shocked the tennis world with her design for a tennis skirt for star player Lili de Alvarez, when the skirt she wore at Wimbledon.
In 1935 Schiaparelli moved to a salon overlooking the Place Vendôme in Paris. In World War II her popularity declined and were young designers like Christian Dior and more popular. Her fashion house was declared bankrupt in 1954 when they moved to the United States Of all the designers, she was closest to the Surrealists. She translated surrealist dream in fashion. Her clothes were in a portable form of art.

OTHER GREAT ITEMS THAT I HAVE WON ON EBAY INCLUDE:
Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Balmain, Prada. Olympia, Or another one of my favorite items also another of my favorite designer, namely: Olivier Theyskens. In the autumn of 1997 Theyskens presented
at the Paris fashion show calendar. His first full collection, which wasn't
taken into sale. The show was marked by the macabre, gothic style, the stage
was adorned with skulls, stuffed birds, Victorian hoop dresses, corsets and
bodysuits with bloodstreams. The show was definitely Soo
Mi. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED the TAXIDERMIC ORANGE CANARY on top of the
heel-pumps. I still would like to have them. Better to say try to find them
first and then become obsessive in wanting to have them.... ANYONE who can
offer a pair of these shoes in size 37.5?? Or send me a postThen a matching skirt and my last won items of Olivier Theyskens was a long cotton black dress

Last fall, Kanye West asked M/M PARIS to design the album packaging for 'my beautiful dark twisted fantasy'. West had commissioned George Condo to create a series of paintings featuring the characters who populate his musical fantasies. during the creative process, M/M Paris created a series of hand drawn ornamented frames to adorn the powerful and iconic Condo paintings.
M/M PARIS and Kanye West wanted to find a luxurious expression of their creative efforts —and decided to transform them into voluptuous silk scarves. resulted five full color scarves made of 100% silk twill, each featuring one of the album covers painted by George Condo and embedded in an intricate gold frame with hand drawn lettering by M/M PARIS.
Each scarf is produced in a strictly limited edition of 100 units.
Single scarf price 250 euro.
The combination of this luxurious visual language over the traditional 'Twill de Soie' is the ultimate celebration of the magically ornamented sounds of 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'.

PARIS FASHION WEEK
MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA
READY TO WEAR A/W 2012-2013
ONE OF MY FAVORITE FASHION DESIGNERS IS MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA.
Just before I went to the Academy of arts I discovered the fashion designer Martin Margiela somewhere in 2000. Intrigued by his replicas of already exisiting old clothes. and his concept of recycling and deconstruction of clothing. My first purchase started with a whiter then white basic T-shirt with long sleeves, folded back to the inside and to let them come out again through the neckline, the sleeves hanging out like two ties. Makes the shoulder bit bigger and almost impossible to press you whole torso into the rest of that tiny waistline T-Shirt. Perfectly done, absolute technical knowhow. An idea you could have figured it out yourself, is another aspect I like about him.
He reinvents himself over and over again, through the lines of his collections. Absolute technical knowhow craftsmanship. For woman who's been liberated from the standards of beauty, experimented lifestyle , Adds an extraordinary elegance and incredible femininity
DEFILE
MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA
READY TO WEAR A/W 2012-2013
Maison Martin Margiela, look at the trousers. Stunningly beautiful, plenty offabric just in front of the trousers on top of the shoes. I definitely want to have this pair of trousers
|
Almost stronger then the latest collection designed by himself. It's a steady consistent collection since 2009, the moment he left. With all his aspects and hallmarks Adjective recognizable of the so be loved signature of Maison Martin Margiela.
Deconstructed dresses, the Trompe de l’Oeil effects.
Trousers front legs has plenty in fabric. Fluently fell on top of the shoes and fluent in accommodating the walking motion.
